Synopsis[]

Dark Phantom and Ghoul are on the run from an unseen attacker, breaking through a window and landing near a phone. Helping his boss up, Ghoul claims their only hope is to call Black Hat; Phantom protests, as he's already in debt with the villain. Seeing no other choice, Ghoul picks up the phone, but is interrupted when the superhero Omega steps out of the shadows. Turning around, he witnesses Dark Phantom being put under a trance, and making way for Miss Heed to reveal herself; the sidekick screams in terror, as Heed's bodyguard Coyote holds him in place to have a puff of heart-shaped pink vapor blown in his face by the heroine.

Back in Black Hat's manor, Dr. Flug and 5.0.5. are cleaning up their old stuff. He finds a box containing unpleasant reminders of his arch-enemy, Goldheart, which he promptly incinerates; 5.0.5., on the other hand, found old pictures of his time as a young student in Black Hat Institute, and his incomplete thesis on manipulating human emotions. Someone stole part of it, and he remarks on the thesis resulting in the creation of the Flower of Pure Foulness and other inventions, in spite of such a setback. Suddenly, his hand disappears, much to his and 5.0.5.'s horror, and limb by limb he's summoned to Black Hat's office. There, his demonic boss awaits, telling him not to fall apart; while Flug puts himself back together, he introduces his client, this being none other than Ghoul. Having managed to escape Miss Heed, Ghoul says her name and describes her modus operandi to the doctor, who seems to find it all familiar. Black Hat taunts him, reminding his lackey that she's in a team with Goldheart. (A screen depicting his appearance shows up behind Flug, caused by Ghoul pressing a button on a wall.)

Flug takes the case and allows Ghoul to lead the way towards the city Miss Heed is protecting. Taking Demencia and 5.0.5. with him, the doctor flies the Hat Ship back to Atreno City, which has suffered a drastic redesign: there are posters, billboards and screens everywhere promoting the heroine's brand. While on her phone, Demencia watches Miss Heed's livestream, where she announces the arrival of Dr. Flug to her followers. Suddenly the ship is ambushed by a horde of flying heroes and villains, who send it crashing down towards the street. The mob of followers surround the vehicle, forming a heart. While 5.0.5. was already outside after the crash, strapped to his baby chair, Flug stumbles out of the wreckage and nearly loses balance when Ghoul dashes out of it, instantly flying towards Heed - who praises his good job, revealing that he was still under control and it was a trap. He leans in for a kiss, but she stops him and instead blows a kiss towards him, sending another gust of perfume into his face. Flug then realizes the perfume was the part of his work that was stolen from him, while Heed greets him and mentions how hard it was for her to finally find him.

5.0.5. gets off the baby chair and picks up one of the pictures from earlier. He starts comparing the student in the center to the heroine, who lashes out at the bear, insisting that if he wants a picture he'll need to get in line. This angers Flug, who activates an exo-suit composed of a winged jetpack and heavy gauntlets and lunges at Heed; her bodyguards, Omega and Coyote, step up to defend her, and a fight ensues. Demencia, a bit dazed for not wearing her seatbelt, stumbles out of the remains of the Hat Ship and watches Flug fighting the horde of mind-controlled fans, which gets her pumped up and she joins the fight as well. Flug makes his way towards Heed, enraged at the theft of his work and calling her a good for nothing traitor, but he's held up by Pavlo, a telekinetic peacock superhero; Heed takes the chance and blows the perfume in Flug's face. While she's distracted, Demencia takes down Pavlo and goes in for the kill - only for Flug to get in the way to Heed, blocking the attack with one of his gauntlets and telling her to cease her aggression.

Demencia is shocked with this turn of events, giving Heed enough time to give her a dose of the toxin as well. Much to her chagrin and disbelief, the villainess is not affected, claiming her heart belongs only to Black Hat. When she attempts to attack once again, Flug punches her and sends her flying towards the wreckage of the Hat Ship, where 5.0.5. stood by. Flug demands her to stay away from the heroine, who fawns over him; Demencia, tearing up, asks what the hell is wrong with him. Heed demands that her followers capture both of the remaining villains, but holds back the doctor, telling Flug she has special plans for him. He picks her up and carries her back to her penthouse; and while Demencia gets ready to fight, 5.0.5. carries her away from the area.

Entering a desert alley, Demencia bites 5.0.5. in order for him to let go of her, and expresses disgust in finding out he tastes like cotton candy. When the bear tells her they need to save Flug, she dismisses the idea by reminding him of how Flug hit her - claiming it's only fun when she hits him. While 5.0.5. pleads some more, Demencia daydreams about marrying Black Hat as reward for bringing the scientist back to their side. This prompts her to accept the idea, but she won't take action until she finishes making out with a Black Hat mannequin that she made out of trash.

Meanwhile, Heed broadcasts a message to her fans, reinforcing the importance of them following her social media; once she turns off her streaming robot, she scoffs. Flug, in the background, orders other brainwashed scientists (Penumbra being among them) to finish the formula of an enhanced mind-controlling toxin; when she checks in on him, she remarks on how good of an idea it was to steal his research, and how better it was to use the doctor himself. This briefly snaps him out of the trance, but she quickly corrects her mistake and blows him another kiss, putting him back in it.

Outside, Demencia throws 5.0.5. as bait for the legion of fans, that goes after him after deeming him the perfect gift for Miss Heed. Crawling into the vents of her penthouse, Demencia starts searching for Flug and overhears Heed's plan: once the formula is perfected by Flug, she'll managed to be the most beloved hero in the world - and therefore, the best, hoping that even Goldheart would love her. Unbeknownst to her, Flug walks into her room at the same time she professed her love for his greatest enemy. Heartbroken, Flug snaps out of Heed's control for good. When Heed notices the doctor standing behind her, both panic; Flug, however, manages to fool her by showering her with compliments and excuses himself out of the room in order to get his cellphone, as the influencer offered him a picture with her for 100 bucks. Once out, Demencia pounces at Flug and slaps him to wake him up, unware that he was already free.

Flug explains to Demencia (who takes out a bat from her hair and casually smashes screens in Heed's headquarters) that the effectiveness of Heed's perfume is temporary, given it was based upon his incomplete formula. Therefore, a heartbreak is the only way to truly set her followers free. Both concoct a plan to expose the heroine and end her rule over Atreno once and for all.

Later, Heed meets Flug on a catwalk over several vats of perfume, where she inquires him on the status of the formula. Flug claims it's ready, making her giddy in anticipation and prompting her to claim he is her favourite follower - and she declares he'll get a kiss as reward. Awkwardly, Flug offers his cheek, but she refuse, lifting his paperbag and kissing him on the lips. Behind her back, however, Demencia had snatched her streaming robot - both of them shocked at the scene they witnessed - to broadcast the whole ordeal to her fans, causing an outrage and setting them free from the mind control. Once her phone notifications go crazy and she realizes what went down, Heed furiously claims that Flug betrayed her, and pushes the stunned doctor over the catwalk; Demencia catches him in the nick of time, throwing him back to the bridge, where he stumbles and drops Miss Heed into a vat of perfume. The villains escape while Heed, defeated, crawls out of the vat, soaked in the toxin, and is confronted by her furious followers. She orders them to chase the villains, to help her, but no one moves an inch. She blows a kiss into Omega's face, which has no effect; she then throws a tantrum in an attempt to gain sympathy, to no avail.

After an unknown amount of time, Flug visits her in prison, where she has clearly snapped: she scribbles on a wall and keeps begging for the praise of a non-existing audience. Once she sees him, she hopefully crawls towards the door and begs for his help - even affectionately calling him Kenny. She insists he's the only one that can help her, to which he replies he'll help in exchange for information on Goldheart's plans. Heed instantly reveals to him that Goldheart is planning to put an end to villainy once and for all, with his followers doing it for him. She adds up that he would go after Flug after everything he did to her, and hopes he would come rescue her as well. After getting the intel, Flug thanks her and wishes her well; walking off while Miss Heed breaks down and desperately begs for him to love her. The doctor, seemingly hurt. turns back and tells her that first she needs to love herself. He bids her farewell using her true name, Cecilia, which she promptly rejects; her cries for affection echo throughout the prison complex.

In a mid-credits scene, Goldheart watches the news about the imprisonment of Miss Heed and expresses concern about the situation, muttering to himself "Flug, what have you done?"
